1. to prepare yourself for a public performance of a presentation, piece of music, play, etc. before the expected time:
If you had rehearsed for your presentation, you would have been able to manage your allowed time.

2. to repeat an argument, story, opinion, etc. in a detailed manner:
Do not rehearse the old argument. Devise a new strategy, instead.
