One should first study Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathon Swift to be able to answer your question. However, this work is the epitome of satire in English literature. Thank you.

  4. 8. Suppose that someone has been told some satiric words about my character. Is it right that I get angry from this person or not?why?

    Reply
    • In fact, the purpose of satire is to draw attentions on negative aspects and helps improve the positives. However, people usually say satiric words with different purposes. What matters in such cases is the ability of distinguishing between satiric words which is constructive and helpful and the ones which is destructive. The most important factor which should be considered in such situations is the characteristics of the person who is providing such words; for instance, if a person who has positive and useful personality states such words, it’s better to accept and appreciate it because such statement has the role of trigger in our life which causes some improvements in our personality.

    • Affluent satire? What do you mean by that? Did you mean ‘social’ or ‘biting’ satire? ‘Affluent’ does not collocate with satire.
Is social satire in a society a sign of ….?

4- Is social satire in a society a sign of freedom therein?

        Reply
        • To some extent, it can be a sign of freedom, but freedom, as you know, is deeply rooted to some other important parameters. Of course, it depends on the society you live in and its unwritten rules which are dominated.

I think ‘dominant’ or ‘domineering’ are better than ‘dominated’. If you like to use the latter, consider a by-phrase, i.e. dominated by what/who?

    • First of all, satirist should find an important subject to consider. Second, find a way to express it in funny way and obtain other attention to it. Finally, follows people comments and opinions about his job to asses his job.

    • Personally, I think satire has a certain purpose, whereas comedy is just based on fun. In other words, satire is reaction to a activity and person who used it wants to persist on that subject to bold it and concentrate others attention on it. for instance, Mehran Modiri ,who is famous director in Iran. Comedy is just mention some points that are funny and its purpose is amusing others.

        Here are some corrections, though:

        concentrate others’ attention on
        Mehran Modiri,

    • Satire is a kind of expressing dissatisfaction that it exposes weakness and crisis in funny way.
The main point of satire is mostly bringing attention to a fault and shortcoming.

      Reply
    • Satire has been known to incorporate other elements like irony and ridicule to denounce something morally wrong, such as a vice or injustice, through means of mocking that injustice with the aforementioned narrative and comedic techniques.
