Slatternly in context

Living in a messy, slatternly and untidy home can wreak havoc on your mental well-being. Clutter creates chaos not only in your living space but also in your mind, leading to increased stress and anxiety. It becomes a constant visual reminder of tasks left undone, overwhelming your senses and diminishing your ability to focus. Moreover, a disorganized environment can impact your sleep quality and overall health, as dust and allergens accumulate. The messier the space, the more challenging it becomes to find what you need, wasting valuable time and energy that could be better spent on more fulfilling activities.

Keeping your home neat and clean is crucial for maintaining a balanced and healthy life. A tidy space fosters a sense of peace and control, allowing you to relax and recharge without the distraction of clutter. It also promotes better hygiene and reduces the risk of illness, as regular cleaning helps keep harmful germs at bay. A well-organized home improves productivity, making it easier to locate items and complete tasks efficiently. Ultimately, a clean and orderly living environment enhances your quality of life, contributing to a more positive and productive mindset.

If you want to be less philosophical, you could argue that your children should maintain a tidy space because untidy spaces are inefficient and look ugly. But again, it’s not your space, so why worry? You can plead hygiene, but the number of teenagers suffering serious infections as a result of poor room-hygiene, so far as I am aware, remains remarkably low.

Unkempt 1100 Words You Need Week 34 Day 4

untidy and slovenly, not cared for, disheveled, messy, scruffy, disarranged, ungroomed, uncombed, needing grooming, tousled, ruffled

My son and I were always close. My DiL is a few years older than my son and I feel he indulges her. She is spectacularly untidy and in her person seems to have lost all self-awareness about her appearance. She is quite overweight, even allowing for her pregnancy, and dresses in a way that is downright embarrassing. I feel mortified by her appearance sometimes, as she is likely to be wearing clothes that are unflattering and scarcely brushes her hair. What concerns me is the reason behind this. I have been shocked on two occasions recently at her unkempt appearance. (I am as certain as anybody can be that there’s no drink or drug problem, it’s more a generally lazy approach to life.) It’s the same with housework.

Provide an opportunity for the employee to explain the behaviour. As noted above, some behaviours that may look like impairment can result from other conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, side effects of medication, low blood sugar, concussion, heat stroke, etc.). The employee’s explanation should be documented.

/ˈslʌv.ən.li/ (adj)

Slovenly definition

dirty and untidy, unkempt, sloppy, disheveled, messy, filthy

Slovenly in context

Every so often, our looks require some attention. We men can become slouchy, slovenly and just plain lazy when it comes to maintaining a consistently dapper appearance, but we shouldn’t let things get too far out of hand. From time to time, it’s necessary to assess the situation and make some immediate adjustments to improve your looks. Plus, some occasions even mandate paying special attention to your appearance — like a big interview or an important meeting. Then there are those random days when you find yourself feeling portly, disheveled and wishing you could do something easy to improve your looks.
