Topic:
Although distance learning is receiving so much attention, particularly in the third millennium, some people believe that it will never take the place of face-to-face learning.
What is your reaction to this comparison?
The Essayist: Arash
Nowadays, a lot of people believes that distance learning is beneficial and has many advantages. However, some people think that this method of learning is not as good as a face-to-face learning approach. I am inclined to believe that distance learning is an excellent way of learning in today’s world.
First of all, I would like to mention some advantages of distance learning. Undoubtedly, one of the most significant merits of distance learning is helping us to save our time. For instance, we can attend an online course instead of attending a face-to-face course and prevent from wasting time in a traffic jam. Furthermore, we can also save our money for the essential things such as an emergency situation, bills, etc. In addition, we can help the nature in order to prevent from air pollution issue which is a very critical issue nowadays.
Second of all, with the aid of technology, we do not need to purchase so many print books and we can purchase E-books instead and read them everywhere. On the other hand, there are some disadvantages for distance learning, for instance, we can get distracted easily by our mobile or computer notifications that we could not focus on our class. As I mentioned before we are able to choose how to use modern technology. Moreover, I as a student prefer to attend online courses instead of going out and attend a face-to-face course.
To conclude, I would like to mention that many students over the world do not have the possibility of attending a face-to-face class, for example, someone who lives in remote areas or some parts of Africa. So distance learning could help them in order to say hello to the world, and I personally think that face-to-face learning will be replaced with distance learning method by next decades.
