Part 1: Introduction

Get ready to answer some personal questions about yourself:

  1. Hello. Shall I have your name please?
  2. Please tell me a bit about your family.
  3. How many siblings do you have?
  4. So you are older than your siblings, is that right?
  5. What is your university major?
  6. Do you plan to continue your education?
  7. Do you need to update your information and expertise in relation to your specialty or university major?
  8. How do you deal with homesickness?
  9. You know, nostalgia is different from having a sense of independence. Are you sure you are not nostalgic about your hometown?
  10. So which country do you want to choose as your ultimate residency?

Part 2: Cue Card

You have 1 minute for brainstorming ?  and 2 minutes for answering ? the following questions:

Focus on this task card, cue card or topic card:

Describe a course you took in your college or university.

You should say:

  • what it was
  • when you took it
  • what you learned from this course

And explain why you took this course.

Part 3: Details Discussion

Answer some follow-up questions generally about the task card asked by the examiner:

  1. Why did you recall this university course more vividly in comparison to others?
  2. What was your university major?
  3. Do you plan to carry on your education, and is it in line with your previous university major?
  4. Do you think that you are motivated enough to continue your education in that major to find solutions to the problem?
  5. How do you evaluate the education system in your country?
  6. If you were in your professor’s shoes, how differently would you teach that course?
  7. What is the role of university education in your profession? Is it necessary?

Examiner’s Notes

  1. You said that you had a sister, and you referred to her as ‘he’.
  2. Correct pronunciation of the verb allow. It has a diphthong, that is, a vowel sound made by pronouncing two vowels quickly one after the other.
