IELTS

The International English Language Testing System or IELTS /ˈ.ɛlts/, is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment, and was established in 1989. IELTS is one of the major English-language tests in the world, others being the TOEFL, TOEIC and OPI/OPIc.

IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training are designed to cover the full range of ability from non-user to expert user. The Academic version is for test takers who want to study at tertiary level in an English-speaking country or seek professional registration. The General Training version is for test takers who want to work, train, study at a secondary school or migrate to an English-speaking country.

Part 1: Introduction

  • Get ready to answer some personal questions about yourself.
  • Please note that the entire interview is recorded.
  • This is a dialogue or two-way conversation between you and the examiner.
  • Time: 4 to 5 Minutes

Questions:

  1. Where do you come from?
  2. Do you live in your hometown right now?
  3. Are you missing your own country?
  4. Isn’t your father living with you? Does he live in Iran?
  5. Did you experience any culture shock when you first moved to Poland?
  6. Was there any shocking aspect in their culture that was difficult for you to get adapted to?
  7. And then, how did you deal with the cultural differences?
  8. Do you plan to stay there, or do you intend to go to another country?
  9. Why did you choose Poland?
  10. What is so special in your national or local culture that you are missing right now?

Part 2: Cue Card

  • Why it was so exciting to you
  • When and where you saw the advertisement
  • Whether you trusted the advertiser

  • It is not a monologue. Instead, it is a two-way conversation between you and the examiner.
  • Time: 4 to 5 minutes

  2. Have you ever advertised something?
  3. Some people contend that the best advertisement ever is the high quality of the service that is offered. How much do you agree with that?

  5. Do you think that commercials must be monitored by some companies or even the government?
