What is time management?

In today’s busy world, being able to get more done allows us to get ahead in life, and even gives us more time to do the things we love. Time management is about how effectively you plan and control your time spent on specific activities. Additionally, it requires the investment of a little time upfront to priorities and organize yourself. Besides, it’s important to not only manage your time to reach your specific goals in your life, but also help you to prioritize personal and family time, such as taking a walk in the park, listening to your favorite music, going on a trip, etc. and you don’t lose those things while you reach your bigger goals.
The first key to good time management is understanding the differences between urgent and important tasks. Urgent tasks demand your immediate attention but not matters like answering the phone; on the other hand, important tasks are critical tasks that will create the most significant results and not doing them may have serious consequences for you, for instance going to the dentist. So, to practice appropriate time management, create a list of tasks and focus on important tasks for doing them as soon as possible.
Secondly, spend your mornings on the most important tasks. As Mark Twain said, “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.”
Third, use your time wisely by eliminating your bad habits that waste your time and energy, such as excessively surfing social media, playing games and so on. When you allow bad habits to take over, they dramatically prevent your path to success. For breaking bad habits, you need self-control to develop good habits. Self-control is like a muscle, and to build it up, you need to exercise it.
Finally, daily goals are easier to achieve while helping to move us towards the longer and bigger goals. So, every evening before bed, look at your goals and see what you can do to move you closer and make a list for the next day. Therefore, by effectively setting goals for the day, you achieve so much more with your time.
As a result, good time management enables you to work smarter not harder and you get more work done in less time. Also, failing to manage your time damages your effectiveness and causes stress in your life.
