Situation
Imagine you are part of a committee that must decide whether to implement a new artificial intelligence system in your city. This AI system is designed to manage and optimize public services, such as transportation, healthcare, and law enforcement. It promises to improve efficiency and reduce costs, but there are also concerns about privacy, data security, and potential job losses.
Question
As a committee member, what factors would you consider before approving or rejecting the implementation of this AI system? Discuss the potential benefits and drawbacks, and explain how you would address the ethical concerns surrounding privacy, data security, and job displacement. Provide specific examples to support your argument.
I personally consider AI as a very good and efficient way to manage public services e.g. transportation, healthcare, and law enforcement in large cities. All of these are, among day to day, increasing challenges in big cities that we have to deal with and need to employ well-educated knowledgeable people to find ways and manage these ever increasing problems. It is clear that using AI is an efficient way to deal with these problems. Considering the pros and cons of using AI, for example, job losses, I vote for it since if we use it wisely, we can provide other opportunities for those who lose their jobs.
