Soporific GRE Vocabulary Flashcard

/ˌsɒp.ərˈɪf.ɪk/ (adj)

causing sleep or lethargy, making you feel sleepy, sedative, sleep-inducing, hypnotic, tranquilizing, calming, calmative, slumberous, opiate, somnolent, narcotic – tedious, boring, uneventful

I went to watch Man of Steel (2013) by myself.

I thought some of the visuals were pretty nice in the beginning.

But I fell asleep towards the end because the movie was quite soporific. I have never slept in a cinema before. The continuous roar of destruction without any kind of emotional investment was like a lullaby. I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
