Do you accept to commit perjury for a close acquaintance? For instance, might you testify that he was driving heedfully when he ran over a pedestrian, although he had been in jest and not attentive enough?
I’d guess that it depends on the person and the consequences which have fallowed that incident.
The consequences are already terribly dire. Your reckless acquaintance (hypothetically) has badly injured an innocent pedestrian. We get it from this part of the question: “run over someone while being inattentive”. Then you appear in the court of law as a witness and you take the oath to tell the truth.
