That must be quite a thrilling adventure! As you said, sometimes, I like to stay away from civilization and think more deeply about life.

I’d like to go to New York, talk to the people, try different foods, find friends, and the like.

Just don’t forget that when in Rome do as the Romans do. I don’t know about the etymology of this English proverb and wonder whether you’re good at acculturation or not. Perhaps Romans are not very culturally flexible and you should be able to adapt yourself to their established social etiquettes and norms. I added this point because the trip is supposed to last for a complete month, which is not a short period of time.

On the other hand, I should acknowledge that this trip must be giving you a thrill to enjoy the special culture and architecture of Rome as you correctly mentioned.

Having a productive life is much better and more important than being physically attractive, in my opinion. It’s all about the depth or width of your life, and I choose the former, that is, the depth of life.

As the founder and chief administrator of LELB Society, which is a bilingual academy of English and Persian, my professional career and life are merged with a high level of productivity. I believe that you can easily compensate for any lack of physical attractiveness (if there is any) through motivation, productivity, people skills, and the like.

Take the case of Stephen Hawking, for example. He was not physically attractive, especially toward the end of his life. However, he was highly motivated and active despite his physical disability.

Such a firm and straightforward remark! It’s clear that loving your family comes first compared to other factors in life, for which I do admire you! Just remember that the question is not directly related to your connection with your family, but your life expectancy or longevity.

In other words, it concerns the quantity of life as opposed to its quality. People could have a pretty short life but stay so close and intimate to their family members, and also vice versa. You also mentioned “as long as possible”, and from that vantage point, it’s clear that you like to be in close touch with your family members as long as possible.

That’s quite a logical answer to this question! First of all, I should say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it means that physical beauty and appearance are, to a high extent, relative. Second of all, I’ve seen many people who are not that physically charming or attractive, yet they do own charismatic abilities and a great sense of magnetism.

What’s more, being extremely attractive might have its own drawbacks, as well. For instance, you cannot lead a normal life and enjoy it in the long run as your privacy might be violated from time to time.

That’s quite admirable, I mean trying to change the history of your nation for the better! We can study the history and learn from it to a great extent, and one of the main purposes of recorded history is, in essence, learning from it.

Reflection upon history is absolutely advantageous in the sense that it opens up our eyes to facts and events so that we would not have to repeat the same mistakes or blunders in the future.

Maybe that’s why we have this proverb in English that reads, history repeats itself, and in my idea, it means that unfortunately people do not pay enough attention to historical facts and events, and as a result, sometimes they have to experience the same failures.

It is completely understandable that you don’t like to LEAVE (not live) your family and travel to the past. However, you should note that these questions are hypothetical and aimed at arousing challenging discussions. Otherwise, asking and answering simple and unchallenging questions would be thoroughly easy and not argumentative at all.

When you try to respond to these questions, you tend to forget that you’re learning and using English to communicate with others; and at the same time, you unconsciously brush up your newly learned vocabulary and use them to make yourself understood. As a matter of fact, these forums, if taken seriously, have a great deal of advantages.

Thank you for performing self-evaluation or self-assessment.

From what you said, I can conclude that historical events in the world are basically inevitable and they are bound to happen sooner or later. Well, with due respect to your idea, I think otherwise. I believe some major events in history could have altered or modified if we had had the science and technology to time travel.

However, I should admit that time travel is quite a remarkable feat as it requires an abundance of energy and access to state-of-the-art technology. On the basis of the Butterfly Effect, one minor and nominal change could yield outstandingly major changes in a nonlinear manner.

As you correctly implied, sometimes, we fail to see ourselves and evaluate our performance or behavior, which is quite normal by the way. With regard to this part of human nature, we should compensate for this lack of self-evaluation or self-assessment by asking for feedback openly.

To evaluate performance more accurately, we rely heavily on the circle of our friends who know us sufficiently and are benevolent and sincere to us. We can also reciprocate this productive favor and give them our feedback in return. I most treasure the friends who give me their valuable feedback especially in private, and I consistently provide my friends with feedback only when we are alone.

Thank you for correcting yourself, which shows your self-regulation and optimum attention.

    Feedback:
I don’t usually care about normal friends’ criticism.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. However, sometimes my casual friends can criticize me better than my close and intimate friends. If my close friends are too shy to express their criticism, I finally need to pay attention to the criticism of other people who partially know me. In fact, I carefully listen to criticism and I’m not obsessed with knowing the source of criticism.

In English, we have a famous old saying that reads: feedback is the breakfast of champions. This maxim tells us to consider and give heed to what others are talking about us.
